Beyond Policies: What We Still Don’t Understand About People at Work
Plot twist: we spent the whole conversation about employee experience… and ended up talking about leadership. Again. 🤷🏻
Shocking, I know. Truly. I did not see that coming. 🙃
(I did see that coming. I always see that coming. Because it is ALWAYS about leadership.) 😉
Here is what I find endlessly entertaining:
Companies invest serious money in employer branding teams, polished LinkedIn posts, beautifully designed values slides, and culture decks that would make a design agency weep with joy.
And then the same company’s employees are on Glassdoor at 11pm.
You can hire the best copywriter in the world to describe your culture.
You cannot hire someone to make your culture actually exist. 💡
The glitter does not stick when the reality keeps washing it off. 🌟
So yes – I am always delighted to be part of conversations that skip the performance and go straight to the uncomfortable truth. What people actually experience at work. What leaders actually do when no one is filming the values video. What happens when the carpet runs out of space for things being swept under it.
Thank you to Marie Pavlou and Konstantinos Kareklas at WorkplaceTalks for the opportunity to speak in this space – where honesty is the format, not the exception. It is a rare thing, and I do not take it for granted.
